#NoFilter project - Milan

#NoFilter project - Milan

Hello guys, I am pleased to announce that I am partecipating in one amazing project called #NoFilter project - Milan in collaboration with London City AirportThe aim of the #NoFilter project is to get back to the roots of photography, celebrating the fact that photos don’t need to be Instagrammed or filtered in order to show how beautiful a city is, everything in max 5 photos, which will be judged by Sara from Ms. Adventures in Italy.

Milan is a cosmopolitan city of fashion, art and architecture, a city that has a lot to offer
and in this post I will try to show you the underrated beauty of Milan. All photos are taken with my Canon EOS 70D and they are not edited. I've also prepared a few, very important photography tips, so don't forget to read them and significantly improve your photography skills.

Duomo di Milano is the cathedral church of Milan and it's the 5th-largest church in the world dedicated to Santa Maria Nascente also famous for it's gothic arhitectural style. Unfortunately, Duomo remains incomplete for centuries. I think that the evening is a great time to take architectural photos because of mixing sources of light.

Milan is synonymous with prêt-à-porter industry and many Milan's boutiques fit into a square known as the Quadrilatero d'Oro. In the central streets of Milan such as La Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Via Monte Napoleone, Via della Spiga e Via Sant'Andrea are situated many excellence boutiques as Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci, Giuseppe Zanotti, Versace and many more. Milan is a great place to shop for designer items.

Max Mara spring/summer collection 2015

Just a few steps away from the Duomo we can find a large number of famous brands such as Furla, Max Mara, Michael Kors and some low cost brands such as Zara and Mango.

L'Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera is one of the oldest schools of Italy and it was founded in 1776 by Maria Theresa of Austria, a famous destination for students from all over the world. Pinacoteca di Brera was born alongside the Academy of Fine Arts and it's a national gallery of ancient and modern art.

Do you love modern architecture? If you do, then I would like to suggest you to visit Porta Nuova. The gates of Porta Nuova were built in 1810 in friable sandstone and after a long period of urban decay, Porta Nuova is transformed in one of the most impressive zones in Milan, thanks to the "Progetto Porta Nuova" and innovative modern architecture.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS

  • Experiment - Start to experiment, and trust me the best way to improve your photography is to keep shooting. Create some pretty interesting effects with shutter speed during the night time shot, try to use the panning technique and capture a subject in motion. Unleashing your creative side!
  • Manual mode - Turn off your autofocus and try to shoot in manual mode. It isn't as difficult as it sounds, but you need to have a strong desire and patience to improve it. The result will be definitely better of taking photos with autofocus.
  • Lighting - It's extremely important to pay attention on light. Natural light is the most important thing in photography and learning to use light effectively can really improve the pictures you take.
  • Histogram - It's a tool that helps us to get a graphical representation of the tonal range in image. A histogram will measure exposure more objectively and it can also describe the amount of contrast in an image. Of course it can't replace your eyes and your knowledge.
  • Tripod - You can get rid of camera share and take some perfect night time shots. Tripod will keep your photos sharp in a wide variety of situations.
